So last week a study came out that said that Netflix Instant accounted for 20% of the night time download bandwith in the United States. A few days later it came out that Comcast, a large US internet provider, wants Level 3, Netflix’s partner in content delivery (i.e. the folks who make the streaming happen for Netflix) to pay Comcast some money in order for Comcast to deliver Level 3’s services. You can read a nice explanation of the battle here. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out.
I might be more sympathetic to Comcast if my home network provided the services it claimed it did.
