Years ago I reported that there was a Broadway production of the 1980s film Flash Gordon in the works. I’ve not heard anything about that in a long while so I expect the project may be dead. But there’s an attempt to revive Flash on film.

This week director Breck Eisner has been on a press tour to support his film The Crazies (which is a remake of a George Romero film and looks kinda fun – I dig the Olyphant) and has been talking about how he wants his next project to be… FLASH! AH AH! It sounds like it won’t be nearly as cheesetastic as the 1980s version. And how could it? It won’t have Brian Blessed as a winged man in gold hot pants, Timothy Dalton as this weird Prince/Robin Hood looking dude, or Max Von Sydow as a Chinese alien type man. And it sure as heck won’t have this bit of awesome:

So go to town, Breck Eisner, but I’ll be watching.
