Ch-ch-ch-changes

We’re winding down to the end of the year, the end of a decade, and a bunch of “best of” reflective lists are being published.

Rolling Stone has a great list of the best albums of the decade.

I ran into a couple of good movie lists. The Onion’s AV Club list is interesting. A list closer to the way I might have voted is Paste Magazine’s. Moviephone has an excellent list of the crappiest movies of the decade. Frankly, I’m shocked there’s not more Uwe Boll films on the list.

I found some interesting book lists. Goodreads has a list based on user votes. Frankly, any list that has Twilight as #4 is ignored by me. Huge seller? Yes. Great book? N.O. I rather liked the Onion AV Club’s list.

As we wind up this decade I’m looking forward to the next one. I found out on the Monday before Christmas that my work contract got terminated. While I really dug the people and the job, I always knew it was a short term gig and I got three more months than I initially expected. So I get a holiday week with my husband (yay!!), and then some time to unwind and figure out to do with the next decade. Initially that involves cleaning, chores, drinking, and playing video games. After that… who knows? I kind of like having a blank slate.

What about you? Any gripes with the lists? What are you looking forward to in the next decade?

On a less serious note, one thing I’m super grateful for in the 00s is this:

Christian Bale as Batman

YUM. 🙂

  1. my sister is in the same boat – what to do in the coming decade… job-wise, career-wise etc.

the bay area is a hard place to find a new career path, i think.

  2. Well, the Bay Area has pretty high unemployment and a lot of people. But I think it’s harder trying to figure out what you want that path to be and that difficulty is anywhere. There are opportunities out here that I wouldn’t have in St. Louis though. *shrug*
