I read this week that the widow of Douglas Adams, the man who wrote the brilliant Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series, has authorized the addition of a new book in the series. The book will be written by Eoin Colfer, the man who writes the popular Artemis Fowl childrens’ series.
The series of books is actually incomplete and Adams had said that he’d intended for there to be another book to round out the story. I don’t know that Colfer will be working from notes that Adams left behind, like Frank Herbert’s son did with the continuation of the Dune series. And Colfer’s not going to try to emulate the voice of Douglas Adams. So… I dunno. It would be nice to see a completion of the story line, but without Adams’ unique sense of humor and wordplay, I’m a bit nervous about this. But as they say in the book “Don’t Panic.” It sounds like the new volume will be out sometime late next year, so mark your calendars!
