The sun is a mass of incandescent gas

The sun is also my nemesis. I got nasty sunburned at the pool yesterday. Every few years I think “hey, I’ll sun for 30 minutes without lotion and try to get a little tan.” Yeah, not so much. I’m lobster red on my back and shoulders today. You can feel the heat radiating off me. And the worst part is – it’ll fade back to white, not tan like it will for so many people. But the pool and hot tub? Niiiiice.

  1. Pixie – I wanted to look slightly less white, you know? Plus, I have bruises all over my legs from work and I was hoping that a little tan would hide em.

    Drew – Shut it! šŸ™‚

Phoenix – *grin* That is my favorite TMBG song.

  2. I do my best to stay out of the sun. If I have to go outdoors for any length of time, I cover myself in the highest SPF I can find. Still, I noticed yesterday when I took off my watch that I have a friggin’ tan on my arms! What the hell?

  3. KC – Generally me too. Every few years I decide to risk it. And I pay dearly. I’d like to brown up just a shade – I’m wearing more shorts and these two white sticks of mine stand out. šŸ™‚

I was clearly born in the wrong era though – plump and pale means super rich and desirable, right?? šŸ˜‰

  4. Of course it means super-rich and desirable! Isn’t it funny, tho, how body fashion changes thru the years? Look at the paintings of courtesans in the 16th and 17th centuries. They were shaped like you and me! Now, a woman’s body needs to look super thin to be considered beautiful by a lot of people. Stupid people.

Anyway…. I replied to your comment on my blog regarding more books to read. Be sure to pop over there and see the short list I made for you. If I come up with others, I will email you.
