Stuck in My Head

I have a song stuck in my head and I feel the need to spread the pain around. Here’s the badass Ms. Jackson (and a panther) for your listening pleasure. Happy Monday!

Hump Day – Huey Lewis Style

I’m am ridiculously fond of Huey Lewis so here’s a mid-week pick me up courtesy of Huey Lewis and the News. By the way, I LOVE the silver number that the “dream girl” is wearing. I also think that Huey’s “acting” is genius.

St. Louis and sports

How did it become October already??

October always makes me happy – nice weather, post-season baseball, the start of the hockey season, and Halloween!

I was in a sporty state of mind when I ran across this interesting article on the corporatization of professional sports in America. Guess how many firsts were attributed to St. Louis teams? [...]

Dr. Seuss

I was surfing the web and ran across this interesting list of 10 Stories Behind Dr. Seuss Stories. There are some fun facts there, including this one:
3. If I Ran the Zoo, published in 1950, is the first recorded instance of the word “nerd.”

Pretty cool!

Quick update

Several people have asked for a job update so here’s the short version – I had 3 interviews with 2 “companies” and am waiting to hear back. I was the first interview on both jobs so I am in limbo. Both interviews went well, but was told at the second place that he (the guy [...]

The art of sword swallowing

I was skimming my RSS feeds and came across this fascinating Q&A with trivia on the art of sword swallowing. And it’s creepy cool. Check it out.

My favorite bit of trivia: In carny lingo, sword swallowers are called “blade glommers” or “steel slurpers.”

HA! Suck it, steel slurper! Love it! Happy Saturday!

Busy weekend, sorta

On Saturday night we finally saw the awesomeness that IS Point Break LIVE! Let me tell you, when you go to a play and they ask if you want to pay $1 for a poncho, the answer is “YES.” We had a blast. They started with the casting of the evening’s Keanu. A bunch of [...]

Memorial Day Thought

On this Memorial Day I wanted to pass something along. We still have a lot of men and women serving abroad, both in Iraq and in Afghanistan, among other places. And to bring a bit of cheer to those dedicated men and women who are serving much longer than usual, there’s been some talk of [...]

Disjointed thoughts on a Monday

It got really hot here. 100 degrees hot. But now I understand how serious humidity is – in St. Louis 90 degree weather had 100% humidity and my lungs felt on the verge of collapse. Here, 40% humidity or so, not so muderously terrible. But still not 70 degrees.

In any case, I’ve been kind [...]

Four Things I Love Today

1. Eli Stone was renewed! Yay!

2. Hammer is following me on Twitter. MC Hammer. Booyah.

3. San Francisco. I’ve been meaning to mention this but there’s a movement afoot to name a sewage treatment plant after George W. Bush. It’s so funny.

4. The Vatican says it’s ok to believe in aliens. Awesome.
