I think I mentioned that a couple of weekends ago we had an Eli Stone marathon when my husband was under the weather. As a result, I’ve become a little obsessed with Victor Garber.
I’ve always meant to watch Alias – I mean, it’s a chick kicking butt, AND created by JJ Abrams, one of the men behind LOST. And I’d always heard Garber was really, really good in Alias. Drew found this complete box set on Amazon for $145, which initially sounds crazy expensive, but when you do the math, it’s 5 seasons and each season is at LEAST $30 (though most seem priced at $45 on Amazon).
And all this got me to thinking – hey, there’s a government stimulus check coming in the mail this month – what should I do with it?
So interweb friends, I have 2 questions for you:
1. Alias – fan, not fan, worth buying?
2. What are you going to do with your stimulus check? Spend it on something fun? Pay bills? save it?
By the way, Victor Garber fun fact – he was in the original Broadway production of Sweeney Todd (he played Anthony) and originated the role of John Wilkes Booth in another of Sondheim’s musicals – Assassins. He also played the role of Jesus in the film version of Godspell.

We will spend all of our money the second we get it. crack in the foundation $400
the rest on paying bills
I REALLY want a new laptop but that will have to wait until 2016.
1. Never heard of it, weird! He is a peculiar looking fellow though.
2. I’m probably going to buy some patio furniture. Money burns a hole in my pocket big time!
LOVE Victor Garber. I liked him in the short lived Justice on FOX last year, and he’s great in Alias.
How have you not seen Alias? Seasons 1 and 2 were excellent. After that it was a little less consistent in my opinion, but still pretty good.
Spending my check on a bike so I’ll have something to ride in this year’s triathlon!
Colin – *lol* Steep upgrade program there. Make those lazy kids of your earn some money!
Joe – Alias ran for 5 seasons on ABC I think. Patio furniture is good!
Craig – I never saw Justice but heard it was pretty ok. I never got into Alias, I don’t know why – maybe up against something else? Good luck with the bike!
Turns out my money’s all gonna end up being spent on today’s car repairs. And then some. BOOO. Alias is more fun!
1. If you want Alias, we’ve got Seasons 1-4 on our shelf right now. I’ve been collecting them over time. Haven’t seen all of Season 4 (I watched it when it was on TV and haven’t gone back yet). I love Seasons 1 and 2, but it sort of trails off after that (haven’t seen 5 yet, either, though).
2. We’re going to use it to pay for our vacation this summer. It’s a road trip, though, so who knows how far we’ll get.
Nels – Oh dude, I forgot, you do have Alias! Why don’t we live closer? Grrrr. Good use of the cash!
I’ve never seen Alias, but I’ve always heard good things about it.
Stimulus check is going to pay bills. Dammit, cuz I’d really like to have a new computer, or some pattern software, or a treadmill.
KC – It’s kind of the precursor to LOST. Looks like ours will go toward bills too now. Alias is more fun though!
Buy the DVD set. Victor Garber is fantastic.
Vic – Yes! Random internet strangers validate my shopping urges!
I almost pulled the trigger on it the other day. I’ll Netflix a disk first I think.
Alias (All seasons) is worth buying.
Filled with great actors; Victor Garber (he’s awesome), Ron Rifkin, Terry O’Quinn (Loc, from Lost), Jennifer Garner, Carl Lumbly.
People keep telling how the show gets worse after 2nd season. How negative is that? They should say the seasons 3, 4 and 5 were great, but 1st and 2nd seasons were amazing! (So at least buy the first two seasons
)
I like season 5 too a lot. I wish they made it a little longer and told usmore about Tom’s past. He’s an interesting character also.
I recommend! I’ve watched the show (all 5 seasons) like 4 times during this year. I finished watching the season 2 for the 5th time this year yesterday. I just can’t get enough of these great actors and an excellent show…!
ps. Milo Rambaldi is very interesting character and his (fictional of course) work is really fascinating. I love how he’s so strongly part of the plot, especially in the first 2 seasons.
I’m terribly sorry, didn’t realise the blog was written months ago
I, however, still courage you to buy the DVDs, if you don’t yet have them
Lee47 – No worries! I’ve just added it to my Christmas Wish List. *fingers crossed!* I’ve been told it “gets weird” a few seasons in – I dunno what the deal is . I do love me some Victor Garber though so I think I’m in! Thanks for stopping by!
I’m not going to tell you any details, but Victor Garber is great throughout all the seasons.
I wouldn’t say it gets “weird”, it’s just a little different after 2nd season. Totally worth it
Oh, I also wanted to say that, if you come up with any questions I’m more than happy to give you the answers!
Lee47 – Cool. Hopefully Santa thinks I’ve been a good girl this year.
Thanks for the info!
