Happy hump Day! (a day late)

So this was supposed to be my Wednesday post but I missed the deadline. Ah well, more for you today!

Local news:

Snake in Turtle Park loses its head

The giant snake in Turtle Park lost its head this morning.

Someone decapitated the concrete serpent Highway 40 in Dogtown and drove off with the head, fangs and all. The culprit?

Not Gateway Constructors, who’d planned to take concrete cutters to the snake next week before taking down the Tamm Avenue overpass. The serpent’s fangs were biting into the southern end of the bridge, and highway crews were going to salvage it.

Artist Bob Cassilly, founder of City Museum, fessed up to the heist — without admitting it. He created the climable turtles, eggs and the snake that make up Turtle Park. And, he defaced the reptiles by spraypainting tears on them seven years ago when the city applied a protective resin to their surfaces.

“Bob Cassilly does not admit to having sent a crew of skilled artisans to the overpass on Thursday to ‘rescue’ the snake,” his spokesman Richard Callow said.

“However, he can reassure the snake’s many fans that it is safe –- and awaiting the day when it can rejoin the turtles. Bob thinks it is a good omen for the entire Highway 40/I-64 reconstruction project that something happened ahead of schedule.”

(If you’re not familiar with the Turtle Park, here’s some photos for you. It’s quite cute.) The emphasis on the last sentence is mine.

  3. Laurie – Ouch!! Thanks for dropping by!

KC – True. Or pirates. But I think that would be TOO MUCH awesomness for one film. plus the ninjas, pirates, and zombie would all be hamming it up for more screen time.
